Welcome to Moonshadow, a tranquil, west meadow home with outstanding whitewater views of the ocean. This unique, peaceful, warm and cozy early Sea Ranch home was designed and built by Philip Bradley in the 1960s and lovingly updated. Moonshadow is a magical retreat decorated with works of Northern California artists. It sits adjacent to the coastal bluff trail close to the ocean. Unit 18 Lot 17. Children over 3 years ok. Starting at $503 two nights; $1,333 seven nights.
Moonshadow’s Great Room is accessed by a unique circular metal staircase. Rich oriental rugs cover warm wooden floors. Walls are paneled with more wood and the open post and beam construction is included as an integral part of the charming design of the home. Lanterns, lamps and light sculptures provide warm illumination throughout. A full kitchen is positioned in one corner of the living space with the dining area to one side and the sitting area in front. Pots and pans hang from the beams in the kitchen and a full service of dinner ware is stored in the cabinets. A long counter provides ample work space for whatever is on the menu – be it a full, many course meal or a light snack.
Moonshadow has wall heaters supplemented by a wonderful old fashioned wood stove for heat on a chilly morning. Not only will you be warm enough when the weather is nippy outside, you will also enjoy the ambiance of a woodstove. Pour a suitable libation, select a book and let your imagination take over. (The Moonshadow library has several Harry Potter novels if you forget to bring your own.) If the big game is on while you are staying in Moonshadow by all means take advantage of the television either here in the Great Room or in the master bedroom suite downstairs.
Just outside the Great Room is a wonderful deck with a spectacular view of the ocean beyond the bluff. The perfect place for a bit of sunshine, a quick nap, a morning cup of coffee, an alfresco lunch, or an evening of star gazing and moon watching. A great place to check email, read the latest novel, or perhaps write the next one.
When it is time to retire, you will head back down the circular stairway with art on the walls and glimpses of the garden below. In the entry foyer at the foot of the staircase you will find more of the two dimensional and three dimensional art that is located all through the home. More wooden floors covered with orientals as well as some spectacular period pieces like the radio console outside the guest bathroom.
Two outrageously comfortable bedrooms open out onto the lower deck with it’s luxurious hot tub and a beautiful view of the ocean. Birds, deer, foxes, rabbits, racoons, squirrels and an occasional wildcat are your neighbors.
