The two story Caplan House is a favorite among many seasoned repeat visitors to The Sea Ranch. With three bedrooms and two baths, it easily accommodates up to six people. Children over ten years of age are welcome. The modern kitchen looks out past the dining area to the very private deck and the magnificent view. The great room with a massive wood burning fireplace, comfortable furniture, and delightful window seats, offers the ideal place for your entire party to congregate in small groups or in plenum to discuss world affairs or your latest Sea Ranch adventure. (If you are lucky enough to be here when a storm is brewing there is no better place than in front of Caplan’s fireplace for a game of scrabble, spin the bottle, or whatever.) The great room opens to the entry garden as well as the spacious deck and hot tub. The luxurious master bedroom suite (king bed) also opens to the deck. Another guest bedroom (queen) with its own bath, private deck and a beautiful coastal view is upstairs. The third bedroom (twin beds) is on the first floor at the front of the house. This home has complimentary internet connection as well as free telephone service anywhere in the world. Sorry no pets. Starting at $675, two nights; $1,760, seven nights.
When it is time to go for a walk you have to decide whether you want deep redwood forest or open ocean vistas. Out the door – turn left for the forest – turn right for the ocean. Or, if you so desire, include both in a loop hike. The views are wonderful whichever direction you decide on and don’t forget that the hot tub awaits your return – and it’s got its own fabulous view as well!
